Annoying Things #3: Football (Soccer)

There isn’t much else to add that the title of this post doesn’t already cover. Football (Or ‘soccer’ to our American friends) is just rubbish. All of the players are spoiled, arrogant, over paid thugs and the majority of fans are overly aggressive and loutish.

When you consider that all teams have what are known as ‘Firms’, nothing more needs to be said. For those of you who aren’t already aware, firms are groups of hooligans who support teams and start fights with opposing team’s fans in a bid for ‘respect’. There is even a film which romanticises these thugs called ‘Green Street’ which suggests that getting kicked out of university and starting fights with strangers over an over hyped and pointless game is heroic.

You’re all so brave.

Naming teams after locations is entirely hypocritical considering the fact that the majority of players go where the money is rather than staying with their home team, despite the fact that being paid to play a game and having the honour of representing your home should be reward enough.

What’s even worse about football is the retired ball herders who are asked for their completely irrelevant and unimportant opinion of a game, wherein they usually just slur about how “These young players didn’t foot the ball how I would have footed the ball”

My reaction to this:

We’re all doomed. It’s the 21st century and Louts are praised as almost god like creatures, being paid ridiculous amounts of money (During a recession no less). The same numb skulls who praise these people and pour money at them to watch them play a game which could be watched at any local park complain about the economy being in ruins. There is no hope. This game is corrupt and is a plague which hides behind inspiring music and bull shit about country pride and unfortunately for anyone with half a brain cell, will never be contained.

Annoying Things #2: People who talk through films then complain about them.

Being a big fan of the old moving pictures, this annoys me a LOT

When someone says that they want to watch a film which I like, I love it. But then, they talk to someone all of the way through or occupy themselves with other things before complaining about plot holes (Plot holes which aren’t plot holes, they’re answered earlier while you were NOT PAYING ATTENTION!) and that they don’t get it.

It gets worse.

When someone then asks them if the film in question is any good, they reply with something along the lines of:

It was really confusing, I didn’t get it, I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s not as good as anyone says, it didn’t make any sense” etc etc etc.

My reaction to this:

SHUT UP. It’s ok to have friendly banter about the film, but don’t ignore it entirely and then claim to have seen it before giving out unfair reviews. It’s not the film’s fault if you didn’t pay attention and therefore don’t know what’s going on.

Annoying Things #1: Patronising individuals who are in no place to do so.

This seems to happen a lot with people who are younger than me more than anything else. I don’t know, I guess they’re trying to appear more mature or whatever, when the truth is no one cares how they come across at all.

Basically, when someone younger than you refers to you as “Dear” or “My love” etc in that oh so patronising tone of voice which just screams “If only you were as good as me, but you’re not, that’s impossible”.

Recent example:

I have friends of varying age. Some of my group go as low as 17. The other day my friend’s sister (Who I have never met until now) entered his room and talked down to us all like children.

First off, I found out that I am OLDER than her (I’m getting dangerously close to 23 years old).

Second of all, how cliché is it to burst in on your siblings and talk down to them and their friends? Does she think that will make her look cool? Because it doesn’t.

Here was my reaction to being spoken down to for being younger (Despite being significantly older):

…is this bitch serious?

Note: This happened with two different people recently, so which ever person reads this, I’m bitching about the other guy’s sister. CLEARLY.

The Unfortunate Truth III

All of this rioting is likely to increase taxes to pay for the countless damages. In addition to this, a number of people who were involved in these downright pathetic events will probably get away with it due to the sheer number of idiots involved.

A further unfortunate truth is that a lot of the neck-ends who have taken part in the recent riots and looting genuinely believe that they are in the right.

The economy is going to take a severe blow too, as a large number of businesses have been raided. The worst part is, these same people who have severely harmed our businesses, home towns, property and the economy will be the first to complain about any changes that are made in an effort to repair the damaged caused by THEM.

I hate people, people suck.

Villains of London

Tonight we have witnessed the state that our country has lowered itself to. Riots, criminal damage, common thievery. These scumbags probably consider themselves heroes, at least to their fellow troglodytes.

There is no excuse for the devastation that has fallen on London tonight. I demand punishment for those responsible.

Think of the elderly who live in the areas where buildings are being set alight. I bet these rioters aren’t, because that’s exactly what they are: Rioters. Not members of a movement, not “The voice of the people”. They’re self centred cowards, who are lower than dirt and should be treated as such as a reward for their primitive actions.

Music =/= Life (And I’m a musician)

For all of the people who are constantly spamming my various news feeds with their desire to convince everyone that music is life: Music is not life. Deaf people exist. STOP IT.

The other day some mouthy 13 year old girl jeered at me and called me an “emo” from across the street. The girl had an emo fringe, big back combed hair at the back, and pink converse pumps. This picture is my reaction. What the hell happened to the world? I hate people.

The Unfortunate Truth II

When someone tells you that you “Need to calm down” when you are in fact calmer than a sleeping sloth, it’s hard to come out of it well, regardless of whether your previous statements were right or wrong.

Option #1: “I *AM* calm.”

Comes off aggressive and pretty much proves them right that you’re probably not thinking clearly due to your being a flaming ball of rage. Shouting in arguments/discussions shows that you have been unsettled by an opposing argument and are resorting to volume rather than reason. On the other hand, you’re not lying. If you go with this one, just make sure you don’t sound to angry when you say it.

Option #2: “You’re right, sorry”

What are you doing? You aren’t angry and don’t need to calm down. Why are you apologising for something that isn’t true? They aren’t right. If you’re certain that you’re correct, don’t take that from them. Although, having said this, showing that you aren’t afraid to admit that you’re in the wrong usually wins people’s admiration. No one likes someone who can’t admit defeat.

Option #3: *Explain this blog entry*

While you may make a few valid points and really hit it home in detail that they are being unfair by asking you calm down, you have more than likely just bored the entire room and seemingly shifted topic, which is quite evasive, no? I wouldn’t go with this one. I wouldn’t even read it, I’m surprised that you have just finished reading it.

Idiots of the Amazon

It really irks me when idiots rate items for sale on Amazon based on their opinion of the content rather than the actual product quality. If I want to know the opinion of every bumbling fool on amazon.co.uk with regards to a film/game/etc (Spoiler: I don’t) I’ll go to IMDB. I go to Amazon to buy things. If I’ve searched for it, I clearly like it enough to want to buy it.

Reviews for films that haven’t been released! What the SMEG is that all about?! Have these people some how gotten themselves an advance copy?

To use an example relevant to the current time frame, the new Harry Potter is available for pre-order. 4 out of 5? What did they buy it then watch it, only to find out that the disc was scratched or that it had a DVD chapter missing? Seriously. People who do that. STOP. You’re ruining an otherwise fine online store for those of us who aren’t wannabe film critics.
